Labels

Labels play a critical role in the successful manufacturing and marketing of products, as well as in compliance with Federal regulations.

Design, Printing, Inventory

All labeling materials—labels, stickers, hang tags, sensor tags, etc.—are to be supplied by the customer. Need help? The PNI team can answer many of your questions, and refer you to:

  • graphic designers who are experienced in branding, supplement facts panels, packaging and label design
  • printers who are experienced in label production.

We can also assist you with managing label inventory and ordering.

Compliance

Customers are responsible for providing labels that comply with all regulations. We suggest that you have your labels reviewed by legal counsel familiar with the regulations that were established in the Dietary Supplement Education Act (DSHEA).

Printing Specifications

We prefer “pressure-sensitive” labels, though we can also apply paper labels.

Pressure-sensitive labels

  • We require a #4 rewind (see chart below).
  • Spacing between labels on the roll should be a minimum of 1/8 inch and a maximum of 1⁄4 inch.
  • We prefer a non-u.v.-coated area on the label for imprinting the expiration date and lot number. Minimum size for this area is 1⁄4” x 1 1⁄4”. This may appear vertically or horizontally on the label.
